About

Our Story

Established in 1892, Hunters Hill Rugby is one of the oldest suburban Rugby Clubs in NSW.

The first recorded match played by Hunters Hill occurred on 28th August 1875, when our local boys took on Newington College FC.

While we can be certain that Hunters Hill was playing in 1875, and we can find records of games in the following years, we can’t with any certainty say that there was a firmly established Club at Hunters Hill until the Hunters Hill Football Club began playing consistently in competitions from 1892, at Boronia Park.

Perhaps more research will uncover a clearer picture of these early days, but for now, as a Club, we’re proud to wear 1892 on our Club badge.
